Jill Dougans is Associate Counsel who rejoined Hartshorne & Mehl in May 2021.  Jill articled and then practiced with the Firm from 1986 to 1992.  Thereafter, Jill founded her own Firm with William Fritz, Robert Shireff, and Paul Lail in Surrey.  Three amazing children later Jill’s family moved to Kelowna where she spent the next 22 years.  Jill is an avid outdoors person who enjoys road cycling, bootcamp and wine tasting in the heat and sun of the summer and downhill and cross country skiing in the winter.  Jill missed the ocean and the rain, and with family and friends in the Okanagan and Vancouver, she will be practicing from within both communities.

Jill’s practice as a trial lawyer in Vancouver, Surrey and Kelowna has always included personal injury, insurance litigation and general litigation, including employment law and estate litigation.  Jill has been a qualified Mediator on the BC Mediator Roster since 2003. Jill also enjoys teaching and for 5 years taught a 4th year Political Science Course on contemporary law at the University of British Columbia Okanagan.  Jill has volunteered with the Central Okanagan Restorative Justice Program for over 10 years. Since 2016 Jill has been a Member of the Discipline Tribunal of the Law Society of BC.

Jill is well known for providing practical solutions wherever possible.  She is hands-on but works well leading a Team.
