Hartshorne & Mehl: Accounting Clerk Position Available

Hartshorne & Mehl is a boutique law firm of 17 lawyers focused on complex litigation with extensive experience in all levels of court in British Columbia.

We have an opening for an Accounting Clerk who is interested in stepping into a vibrant, challenging, and active work environment.

About the Job: Our Accounting Clerk will work closely with the Managing Partner and Accounting Department to manage and execute accounting and operating functions within the firm.  This position requires 3 to 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, during business hours, in our Mount Pleasant office. 

Responsibilities include:

·                     Inputing accounting disbursements, receipts, billings, accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, prepaid expenses, credit card statements;

·                     Trust Accounting - Trust transactions, TAF;

·                     Preparing commission statements;

·                     Preparing client invoices;

·                     Preparing bank deposits;

·                     Other related accounting functions as required.

Experience and/or Qualifications Required: 

·         2+ years accounting experience in a law firm with a working knowledge of Esilaw (Legacy Program preferred);

·         Previous experience with ICBC billing and Plaintiff personal injury is an asset; 

·         Flexiblity with respect to their scheduled days and hours required for the position;

·         Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;

·         Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and function well in a fast paced environment;

·         Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality;

·         Have a passion for learning and continuing growth in a dynamic environment;

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and

·         Dependable, reliable, and enjoys being someone a team can trust to get things done.

Education: An Accounting Diploma/Degree Program or equivalent relevant work experience.
